ABOUT
Based in the West Sussex countryside, Anna Hewitson Design is a boutique, hands-on studio, where each client gets Anna’s full attention. “I really listen to what my clients need and what they have to say - I don’t dictate to people. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a client living in their home and enjoying it once a project is completed. Improving the way people live gives me such pleasure.”
Having first studied Fine Art and later trained at KLC, Anna’s initial years in the world of interior design were spent working for some of the UK’s biggest names, including Melissa Wyndham, Hugh Leslie and Janine Stone. In 2013 Anna set up her own studio, working independently on several London houses but her new location on the Sussex-Hampshire border has drawn her increasingly to country projects with a softer aesthetic.
Anna’s work balances contemporary and traditional, with nods to classic English country house style. Fundamentally calm and restful, her interiors are given warmth and interest by judiciously chosen antiques and fabrics. “I never want anything to feel overly sleek or shiny,” she explains. “My aesthetic is a clean take on the traditional look.” The art of layering is key in Anna’s design process. A rich array of natural materials, organic textures and eclectic pieces are carefully curated to create cohesive, comfortable and honest spaces where people feel at ease.
